Use you magic wand with a tolerance of 15 or 20 and select the red area. You may have to increase the tolerance to get all the red or see next step. |
Go to Selections/Invert, Selections/Modify/Contract by 1 (this should get rid of the rest of the red, then Selections/Promote to Layer. You should now have two layers on your layer palette. Make sure the top layer, the one with the stars, is still highlighted and that your stars are still selected. |
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer, this adds a layer and it should now be highlighted. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand by 2. Then flood fill with black. |
In the layer palette, move layer 2 below the stars layer. Selections/Deselect. You should now see stars outlined in black. |
Here is the finished image, stars outlined in black on a red background. At this point save it as a psp file so that it will still be in layers and you can use it again if you need to. |
If your star edges seem a little jagged, you could soften them a little. Make sure the star layer is highlighted, then go to Effects/Blur/Soften. |
This should soften the stars just a little and I like the effect, but you might not. |
