April Week 1

The online tutorial can be found here.

Your assignment this week is: Create 3 more Easter Eggs and decorate them in any fashion you wish. You can use fonts, painting techniques, whatever your imagination comes up with. Try using the previous month's perspective shadow effect and give your eggs a whole new dimension. :o) Please post all-- the one (1) made following the tutorial, as well as the other three (3) to your homework page.

Here is the image from the lesson, using my own tube and background,

and here are the other three for the lesson. The first done the same way with a different tube and background. The second was a square button from my Valentine set, deformed into a circle, then into an egg and highlighted, and placed on the Valentine background. The third is the Valentine background deformed a little more, with the doggie added and a gradient background.

And one more with the deformed shadow effect and an Easter "Chicky" peeking out!

April Week 2

Spring Break - No Lesson this week.

April Week 3

The online tutorial can be found here.

This week we learned that we could turn a lace tube into a bordered background. Of course, we could expand on that and include a matching web set, as well. This week, our homework assignment will take two pages linked to one another. The first page should consist of the lace background from the lesson. Please include a matching web set with at least four buttons, one linking to your second homework page. Perhaps include a banner or bars. Feel free to alter the colors or anything else to make this page yours; just be sure that you have used the lace tube for this part of the assignment.

The second page will also include lace, but the source is up to you. Maybe you want to make your own lace tube and complete a second web set. Or maybe you already have a lace tube that you’ve been wanted to have some fun with. Maybe you’d rather do a triple border with different laces. The choice is yours and only limited by your own imagination (and of course the time factor)! Please remember to link to two pages.

Lace Bordered Background from lesson Color changes and different buttons Using my own lace
There are three links because the second one is really just a color change, the third one uses my own lace doily from a different tutorial as a double border.

Thank you!

April Week 4

The online tutorial can be viewed here: http://www.nzld.net.nz/PSPUG/edu/tutc/basket.htm

The assignment this week is to go back in time. Back to an era when making a basket was a necessity. Use the technique taught in this week’s lesson to create your own basket using materials of your choice.

Create you own basket texture image and save it as a .bmp file and place it in the patterns directory, as instructed in the lesson. Might I suggest that you use the materials that are native to your area? If you want to design your own shape for your basket, you can do the following: Use the Selection tool or the Freehand tool to draw your shape. Go to "Selection" from the menu bar. Click "save to disk". Name your shape and click "save." When you want to use the shape that you have created, go to "load from disk." Locate your shape and click "open."

When you have completed your baskets, please post the one made from the tutorial and any others (at least one more) to your homework page.

What is the purpose of your basket? Perhaps your basket will be filled with the objects it was meant to hold. Use your imagination and have fun!

Here is the image from the lesson, using my own scarecrow tube, some ivy and a bunny head, then my own background. I did this one for Easter when we did this same tutorial for PSPIZ School Zone.

The basket on the left is woven from grasses, just as the Native Americans in this area might have made shallow baskets for collecting the fruits of nature. The one on the right, though very modern looking, is based on the coiled rope type basket which goes back to the beginning of time. And here is one more just for fun.

My purple weave make into a child's toy basket, an age old way of storing anything and everything.

Thanks SunnySnow!
