May Week 1The online tutorial can be found here. This week’s lesson demonstrated a few new functions of Paint Shop Pro and the end result was a metallic text. This metallic technique lends itself to countless other applications as well. ![]() My word is BIRDS done just as the lesson instructs and put on my background. Why birds? My mother passed away when I was 25 and on the trip from Texas, where my husband was stationed in the Air Force, to California, where I grew up and my family still lived, everywhere we stopped there were birds, lots of them. My mother's nickname, by which all her friends knew her, was "Birdie". I have always felt that this was my mother's way of looking after me on that quick 30 hour trip, and ever since, whenever I am feeling down, all I have to do is start thinking of my mother and I start noticing birds, all kinds and all sizes, like they start showing up everywhere I am when I am outside. So.....birds make me smile. The second component of the assignment is to design four metal objects of art from fonts or dingbats. ![]() Please click on each to view full image and explanation, then "Close Window" to come back here.
May Week 2This week, we began part 1 of making a marble room. To view the online tutorial, please go here: http://www.nzld.net.nz/PSPUG/edu/tutc/marblrm01.htmYour assignment this week, since we are doing 3 parts, is to post the image you ended part 1 with to your homework page. We will do this subsequently until we get to part 3 where you will have a more in depth assignment. :o)...Be sure to tell us if you strayed at all from the tutorial or if you decide to put a frame around your image, how you did that. ![]() The only thing I did different was to fudge the second layer of marble (move around a solid marble rectangle before deleting the selections) so that the marble matched, making it look more real.
May Week 3This week we added steps to our room. So, your assignment this week is to make a porch, using the techniques from last weeks lesson and this weeks lesson. Make your porch using any texture you wish, rock, stone, wood, whatever. Be sure you tell us how you made it!
![]() Here is last week's with the floor and steps added. ![]() Here is my porch, using a stucco/adobe fill for the walls and porch and tiling the floor of the courtyard (just pretend). I cut off both ends of the steps to make an actual "porch" and added cross bars in the windows, a wooden door and some decor.
