Class Syllabus

Week One:  Introduction to Perspective, Lines, Shapes, Forms. Tips on beginning.

 

Week Two:  Tones, Shading, Shadow, Highlight, Reflection and Texture


Week Three:  Deciding how and what helps to make a good painting. You will continue learning from what you've learned in Lesson Two and adding more information toward the execution of your painting. Lighting, Patterns and Unity among other things.
 

Week Four:  Introduction to colors and what they mean to a painting, including their importance in rendering a good painting as opposed to a mediocre painting. Tips and Techniques regarding color.
 

Week Five:  Composition. Let's compose our picture and what we want to accomplish. This will help you focus on the main interest, balance, variety, simplification and unity of the painting.
 

Week Six:  This lesson will probably be modified as the course progresses, but by this time you should have at least one completed painting as well as learning more Tips and Techniques.  Because this is a unique course the students should be able  to create a painting of their choice.
