The first steps

Homework Assignment 1 - For your first assignment, we are going to provide you with a simple questionnaire that we filled out. Using this information, we would like for you to work through the "first steps" above and do several logo sketches using the graphics program of your choice or scanned paper and pencil. Please use only black and white or grayscale and appropriate dimensions and resolutions for posting on the Web. We suggest 72ppi and about 500 x 500. You may use either vector or raster layers, and what ever typeface(s), shapes, illustrations, etc. you would like. Let your creativity flow! Remember, we want this exercise to be fun for you. :)

Questionnaire:

Company name: Jumping Jax

Brief description of the products and/or services the company offers: Trendy local restaurant noted for it's wild but delicious entree's and mixed drinks

Target Audience: Most likely 25 -45 year old professionals looking for a taste experience and dynamic atmosphere

What type of image the company would like to convey: Trendy and dynamic

When you're done with your homework, post the URL to the class board along with any questions or comments that you have. We look forward to seeing your work!

Here's my take on the assignment. I see it in purple and pink, don't ask why. I'm not really sure this would appeal to the age group specified, but it was my first idea for the logo and I went with it.

Homework Assignment 2 - Your second assignment is to find a logo that impresses you and seems to be a "good logo" according to what we discussed earlier. Post it to your homework page along with your comments about why you feel that it is an effective logo.

MSN Logo Internet Logo for MSN, butterfly symbol (played by a middle aged man) is used in their TV advertisements. Simple, clean, readily recognizable.
