Homework - Week 3

Assignment

1. Experiment with the Magnifying Lens Show an original image using either one of the preset effects, or a modification of your own choosing. If you make a new preset, please post it on your Web page, if applicable, for your fellow students to share. (This should be offered as a zip file, linked to from your homework page.)

It's a jack rabbit. But the picture (one I used in week 2 also, for Pumpkin's background) was never very clear and you had to "know" what it was. These rabbits hang out around the building I work in, which is right across the street from the base golf course.

2. Create a Balls and Bubbles image for your Web page. If you create a new preset, offer it up for your classmates to download.

Our son came by last fall looking for his fishing gear. While searching our very cluttered garage, he and my husband ran across Granddaddy Brown's fishing tackle box. Our son is named for his grandfather who died several years before he was born. These two got to talking about fishing in general and hubby was telling "Granddaddy Brown" fishing stories from when he was little. Used a picture from a card making program for the grandpa picture (it actually looks a little like I remember him) and turned that into the "bubble".

3. Show an original image with any of the other Effects, using some of the new Selection modifiers we covered (Alpha channels, Select Selection Borders, Smooth Selection.)

Well I went with the mosaic effect, experimenting with the various settings and using "Pumpkin" again as the focal point. I did use all the taught selection modifiers. I unchecked the ellipse when I used the feedback effect and played with the placement. Then modified the mosaic settings until I got something I liked. On the selection borders, I used the inside setting because it balanced better for me.
