hellen5's Terragen Class HomeworkWeek 1 - Getting to know the Terragen interfaceAssignmentNow it's time to "start from the beginning". Create a terrain, add water, position your camera, add a preset surface map and render your image. Post your image on your website or Student Upload Area. Send me the world file and the terrain file you've created. Good luck! Just following the instructions and generating a landscape using the tools as discussed. I used the "Subdivide and Displace II" option when generating the terrain, set my water at 25 meters, and used the "GrassAndSand2.srf" surface map. I set my camera on a high point that could see at least 2 lakes and set my water "sub-surface" at Deep. I did change the render to best quality (that's all I changed), as I like how that looks best and I really liked what I got here. So this is the world and terrain files sent to the instructor.
There is a full sized .bmp image file (lg 900KB), but I couldn't tell much difference between the .bmp and the web-friendly down-sized .jpg version, and I did do a pixilated version as in the instructions. And, I did post that I would upload the zip files for the world and terrain, so here it is. And here is my first world and terrain with the settings exactly as in the lesson.
And the .bmp image file is here. The pixilated .jpg image is here. And the zip file for the world and terrain is here if you want to play around with it. This world was revisited in both week 2 (sculpting and water) and week 3 (surfaces). The results can be viewed here.
One more image. First world, same view, different surface and lowered water level. You can definitely see the "milkiness" or "haze" in this image. But I really like the way it turned out too! These are fun to play with!!! My Terragen Class Index My LVS Index
