hellen5's Terragen Class Homework

Week 3 - Surface Maps

Assignment

If you haven't already downloaded the week 3 zip-file do that now. Open the terrain, and apply the overlay to the Surface map. Apply water, at a level you find fitting, and apply at least 2 surface children with simple colours. If you want to, you can also apply children's children to the 2 surface children. Render an image with the light conditions of your choice. Post your render to your website or Student Upload Area with your comments on how this assignment worked for you.

First look, just finding my point of view, nothing else changed.

Changing water level and playing with some child surfaces.

Same, changed water level again, and the clouds.

This is more like it!  Really played with the surfaces and child surfaces to get the look I wanted.  Changed the sun's position, the water level again, and the clouds again.

I live in SW Oklahoma, near the red river and several branches off it, the North Fork and the Salt Fork.  This is what the area looks like, though I couldn't get the sandy area any smoother, and I'd like a more realistic grass area, but this is close.

To see the column layered as discussed in the lesson, go to this page.

Revisited World 1 from Week 1 and changed the surfaces a little more, now that I "know" what I'm doing - see that here.

Revisited World 2 from Week 1 also - see that here.
