hellen5's Terragen Class Homework

Week 6 - Other programs used with Terragen

Assignment

Now it's your turn; Make a terragen render that you are pleased with and add some elements, like plants, trees, boats, birds, or whatever you fancy. Have fun!

I borrowed one of Tim O'Donoghue's Grand Canyon terrains and played with it until I got an image I liked with a sunrise.  Then I took just the tree from this digital painting I did for the other class I'm taking and combined them.  Here is the result:

After I added the tree and the shadow and got the coloring of the tree to match the coloring of the background a little closer, I ran it through the photo "fixer" in PSP8 and got this much more realistic image.

I also played with some World Machine images and Fractal Explorer and tried overlays on everything.  Here is one of the World Machine images:

I saved the .ter file, the .raw file, and the .bmp file, then used the bmp file as an overlay.  This will be another program I will be playing with.

I tried to add my "temple" from week 5 to the Grand Canyon image, but it did not look right.  I had added it to the bmp file, then saved it as a raw file, but it just doesn't look right at all.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this class, the instructors lessons were very easy to follow and gave a great platform for individuality and "playing".  I played with all the settings and all the variables and I can do much more with this program than when I started the class and I believe I understand it better and can get it to do pretty much what I want most of the time.
